Dalhousie & Amritsar — Hills, History & the Golden Temple

Dalhousie & Amritsar, Himachal Pradesh & Punjab Himachal Pradesh 4.6 (88 reviews)

About This Package

This 4 days 3 nights road trip pairs Dalhousie's colonial hill charm with Amritsar's spiritual and historical weight, covering a Switzerland-like meadow, a dam-fed lake, the Golden Temple, and the Wagah Border ceremony in one compact circuit from Delhi.

The trip opens with an overnight drive into the Himachal foothills, arriving in Dalhousie for a day covering Khajjiar — a wide, deodar-ringed meadow often compared to Swiss landscapes — and Dainkund Peak's panoramic views across the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Day 3 adds Chamera Lake's forested boating waters, the colonial-era St. John Church, and Panchpula's natural spring, before the drive to Amritsar for an evening visit to the Golden Temple — most striking after dark, when the marble and gold reflect off the Amrit Sarovar. The final day covers Jallianwala Bagh, a sobering piece of Indian history just minutes from the temple, followed by the Wagah Border's daily Beating Retreat ceremony, where BSF jawans and Pakistani Rangers perform a coordinated flag-lowering drill.

The package includes round-trip road transfers from Delhi, internal sightseeing transfers by local cab, 3 nights of accommodation split between Dalhousie and Amritsar, and 4 meals through the trip.

Pack & Go is a Gurugram-based travel agency specialising in planned short circuits for NCR travellers. Our team manages the overnight drive logistics and daily coordination across both destinations, so the trip stays comfortable despite the compact timeline.

This package suits families, couples, and small friend groups looking for a well-paced mix of hill scenery and cultural history over a long weekend. Sandeep Mathur — 5 ★

Took my parents on this trip and both Dalhousie and Amritsar were perfect for them. Khajjiar was stunning — very peaceful mid-week. Golden Temple at night was an experience my mother still talks about.

Neha Bhatia — 4 ★

Good mix of hill station and cultural sightseeing in one short trip. Wagah Border ceremony was louder and more electric than I expected. Dalhousie hotel was comfortable and the weather was great.

Rohit Sehgal — 5 ★

Did this over a long weekend with my wife. Chamera Lake in the morning mist was really beautiful. Jallianwala Bagh is humbling — everyone should visit at least once. Smooth trip overall.
