Manali to Srinagar — Ladakh Expedition

Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir Jammu & Kashmir 4.8 (186 reviews)

About This Package

This 11 days 10 nights expedition rides the full length of Ladakh's high-altitude road network, starting in Manali and ending in Srinagar, with Umling La — the world's highest motorable pass at 5,640 metres — as its centrepiece. For NCR riders and travellers, this is one of the most complete Ladakh routes available, crossing five major passes and covering terrain that shorter Leh-based trips simply don't reach.

The route begins with an overnight Volvo from Delhi to Manali, followed by the ride through the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul Valley, past Suraj Tal Lake to a camp at Sarchu. The next stretch covers Ladakh's most iconic terrain — the 21 hairpin bends of Gata Loops, Nakee La and Lachung La passes, and the wide Moore Plains — before reaching Leh. From there, the expedition climbs Khardung La into Nubra Valley's Diskit Monastery and Hunder's sand dunes, then continues to Pangong Tso for a lakeside night. The remote stretch through Rezang La War Memorial to Hanle sets up the ride to Umling La itself, followed by a return via Tso Moriri — India's highest large saltwater lake — before the final leg through Kargil, Drass, and Zoji La Pass into Srinagar.

The package includes a Volvo transfer from Delhi to Manali, bike rental and fuel for the full Manali-to-Srinagar route (or a tempo traveller for the non-biking option), 10 nights of accommodation across hotels, camps, cottages, and a homestay, 18 meals through the journey, riding gear for bikers, mechanical backup support, all inner line permits, and a 24x7 oxygen cylinder and medical kit in the support vehicle.

Pack & Go is a Gurugram-based travel agency specialising in planned, well-supported high-altitude expeditions for NCR travellers and riders. Our team manages permits, mechanical readiness, and daily logistics across extreme terrain, so the trip stays focused on the ride rather than the planning behind it.

This expedition suits experienced riders and travellers comfortable with extended high-altitude terrain — the age limit for group departures is 16 to 42 given the physically demanding itinerary. Reach out to our team to check current departure dates and availability.

Day 2: Arrival in Manali — Free Day to Explore

Day 3: Manali to Sarchu via Atal Tunnel

Set off early through the famous Atal Tunnel into the Lahaul Valley, where the Chandra River flows alongside towering peaks. Meals: Dinner

Day 4: Sarchu to Leh via Moore Plains

A big day of 260 km through some of Ladakh's most iconic terrain. Tackle the 21 hairpin bends of Gata Loops at 4669m, cross Nakee La and Lachung La passes, then lunch at Pang before cruising the flat 50 km stretch of Moore Plains where marmots and Kyung-Yak roam freely. Arrive in Leh by evening.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La

After breakfast, visit Shanti Stupa for sweeping views of Leh before heading north over Khardung La at 5359m — one of the highest motorable passes on earth. Descend into the green Nubra Valley and visit the ancient Diskit Monastery with its towering 106-foot Maitreya Buddha statue. Overnight in Nubra camp.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6: Nubra to Pangong via Shyok Valley

Ride through the scenic Agam and Shyok villages as the landscape shifts dramatically before the famous Pangong Tso reveals itself — a brilliant blue saltwater lake stretching 136 km at 4300m altitude. Spend the evening by the lakeshore, watch the mountains reflect in the still water, and rest in lakeside cottages overnight.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7: Pangong to Hanle via Rezang La War Memorial

Leave the lake behind and head towards the remote Hanle village via Chushul. Stop at the Rezang La War Memorial — a tribute to soldiers who fought in the 1962 Indo-China War — for a moment of reflection. Cross the Loma Bridge over the Indus and ride through rugged high-altitude terrain to reach the peaceful Hanle valley by evening.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 8: Full Day Excursion to Umling La — World's Highest Motorable Pass

Today is the crown jewel of the entire trip. Ride up to Umling La at 5640m — higher than Everest Base Camp — crossing Photi La at 5524m on the way. The raw, windswept landscape at the summit is unlike anything else. Visit Demchok village on the return. This is a day you will talk about for years.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 9: Hanle to Leh via Tso Moriri Lake

A long but rewarding 289 km ride back towards Leh via the gorgeous Tso Moriri — India's highest and largest high-altitude saltwater lake at 4522m, home to rare migratory birds. Make a short stop at the scenic Kyagar Tso lake along the way before arriving in Leh by evening.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 10: Leh to Kargil via Namika La & Fotu La

Head west from Leh towards Kargil, stopping at the Hall of Fame war museum, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the magnetic hill optical illusion, and the Sangam point where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet. Cross Namika La and Fotu La passes before arriving in Kargil — a town with deep historical significance.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 11: Kargil to Srinagar via Zojila & Sonamarg

The final riding day takes you through Drass — India's coldest inhabited town — and over the challenging Zoji La pass before descending into the lush green meadows of Sonamarg, once part of the ancient Silk Road. Arrive in Srinagar by evening, check into your hotel, and celebrate the journey with a hearty dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Wake up in Srinagar, have a final breakfast, pack your bags, and head to the airport. The Ladakh expedition concludes here — 11 days, 10 nights, some of the world's highest roads, and memories that will stay with you forever.

Rohit Malhotra — 5 ★

Did the Ladakh trip with WanderOn last July and honestly the Umling La day was something else entirely. The team was super organised, oxygen cylinder in the car gave real peace of mind at those altitudes. Would go again without thinking twice.

Priya Nanda — 5 ★

First long trip I did solo and I felt completely safe throughout. The team captain sorted everything — permits, stays, meals. Pangong Lake in the early morning is just unreal. 11 days well spent.

Amit Verma — 4 ★

Great value for a 11 day Ladakh circuit. The Hanle and Tso Moriri stretch is underrated — barely any tourists there. Food was simple but good. Just carry your own snacks for the long highway days.
