Shimla & Manali — Classic Himachal Tour

Shimla & Manali, Himachal Pradesh Himachal Pradesh 4.7 (168 reviews)

About This Package

Shimla and Manali remain the most classic Himachal getaway for NCR travellers, and this 6 days 5 nights trip by private vehicle covers both hill stations along with the Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley — a well-rounded introduction for first-time visitors to the region.

The trip opens with the drive from Delhi through Chandigarh into Shimla, followed by a full day covering Kufri's Himalayan views and fun rides, the Himalayan Zoo, Jakhoo Temple atop its hill, and an evening walk down Mall Road past the neo-Gothic Christ Church and Scandal Corner. The route then moves to Manali via Kullu, stopping at the Kullu Shawl Factory and Raghunath Temple along the way. Manali itself covers two distinct days — Solang Valley's adventure activities (paragliding, zorbing, cable car rides) paired with the temple circuit of Hadimba Devi, Vashisht's hot sulphur springs, and the Tibetan Monastery, followed by a full-day excursion to Rohtang Pass at 3,978m, with views opening into the Lahaul Valley below.

The package includes private vehicle transfers for the full Delhi-to-Delhi circuit, 5 nights of twin-sharing hotel accommodation, 5 breakfasts, and all driver charges, permits, tolls, and parking fees. A Chandigarh pickup option is also available.

Pack & Go is a Gurugram-based travel agency specialising in planned Himachal trips for NCR travellers. Our team manages vehicle logistics, permits (including the Rohtang eco-permit process), and daily coordination, so the trip stays focused on the hills rather than the planning behind it.

This Shimla-Manali package suits families, first-time Himachal visitors, and anyone wanting a well-paced classic circuit with full flexibility from private vehicle travel. Note that Rohtang Pass is closed every Tuesday for maintenance, so travel dates are planned accordingly. Reach out to our team to check current availability and confirm your travel dates.

Day-wise Itinerary (6 Days / 5 Nights)

Day 1: Delhi to Shimla — Arrive & Settle In

Board your private vehicle from Delhi and drive roughly 8 hours through Chandigarh into the hills. The road climbs steadily after Kalka, with pine-covered slopes closing in as you near Shimla. Check into your hotel, take a short walk on Mall Road if energy permits, and call it an early night.

Meals: None

Day 2: Kufri Excursion & Shimla Sightseeing

Start with breakfast, then drive 14 km to Kufri for fun rides at Indira Tourist Park and wide Himalayan views. Back in Shimla, visit Himalayan Zoo for a look at rare hill species, climb Jakhoo Hill for Jakhoo Temple blessings and the Sankat Mochan viewpoint, and stop at Rashtrapati Niwas — the former British Viceroy's residence. End the day with a stroll down Mall Road past the neo-Gothic Christ Church, Gaiety Theatre and Scandal Corner.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 3: Shimla to Manali via Kullu Valley

After breakfast, begin the scenic 7-8 hour drive to Manali. The route passes Pandoh Dam in Mandi district, whose reservoir sits quietly against the hillside. A stop in Kullu town lets you visit the Kullu Shawl Factory to see traditional weaving, browse the Rabbit Farm, and pay respects at Raghunath Temple. Arrive in Manali by evening and check in.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 4: Solang Valley Adventures & Manali Temple Circuit

Drive up to Solang Valley for the morning — paragliding, zorbing and cable car rides are all available here (at your own cost). In winter the valley fills with snow for skiing and sledding. Head back to Manali and cover the main temple circuit: Hadimba Devi Temple set in a deodar grove, the riverside Manu Temple, Vashisht Temple with its natural hot sulphur springs, and the Tibetan Monastery. Spend the evening on Mall Road.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 5: Full Day Excursion to Rohtang Pass

An early post-breakfast departure for Rohtang Pass (3,978m) — the road climbs past the Chandra River, glaciated peaks and views of the Lahaul Valley opening up below. Snow lines the road for much of the year and the twin Geypan peaks are visible on clear days. Note: Rohtang Pass remains closed on Tuesdays and requires a separate eco-permit (not included). Return to Manali hotel by evening.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 6: Manali to Delhi — Departure

Breakfast at the hotel, then pack up and begin the drive back to Delhi. You will be dropped at the Delhi airport or railway station for your onward journey. The drive back through the Kullu Valley and down to the plains gives you one last look at the mountains before the city returns.

Took my family for this trip in May and it was exactly what we needed. Shimla on Day 2 was well covered and Rohtang Pass on Day 5 had decent snow. Kids loved Solang Valley. Driver was very punctual.

Deepika Arora — 4 ★

Hadimba temple in the morning mist was genuinely beautiful. Kufri was fun for the kids but a bit crowded. Overall a smooth trip, hotels were clean and comfortable in both Shimla and Manali.

Rahul Kapoor — 5 ★

This is the go-to Himachal itinerary and Pack & Go executed it well. Kullu shawl factory stop was a nice addition — my mother bought some great stuff. Rohtang drive in the morning was the best part.
