Stops at Nako's turquoise lake and Tabo Monastery's ancient murals lead into Kaza. Did the Spiti trip in July and honestly it was one of the best decisions I've made. The captain was super helpful, stayed at great homestays, and that night at Chandratal was just unreal — sky full of stars like I'd never seen before. Zero complaints.
The route they cover is very well planned — Chitkul, Key Monastery, Hikkim post office, everything in one trip. The food at homestays was simple but really good. One day the road was blocked for a few hours due to rain which delayed us, but the team kept everyone calm and sorted it out.
Spiti on a tight budget but no compromise on experience — that's exactly what this was. The Chandratal camp was the highlight for me, woke up at 4 AM and the lake was just mirror-still with snow peaks around it. Already planning to go back for the bike trip version.
